LVUSD Board Member Lesli Stein called me a "Dangerous Person" and said I want to "Burn Books"
Description
On 8/31/22, Las Virgenes Unified School District Governing Board Member Lesli Stein of 13 years, went to the Agoura High School Parent Faculty Club meeting. As reported back to me, Ms. Stein spoke in front of the PFC and told everyone that a "very dangerous" candidate was running for the LVUSD School Board and that he wanted to burn books. Ms. Stein also mentioned that she knows she is not allowed to talk about this (election matters), so she will not mention any names but urged everyone to vote for all the incumbents in seats 2, 3 & 4.
Several concerned parents contacted me to let me know what Ms. Stein said and told me that the recording secretary from the PFC recorded the entire meeting. I requested a copy of the recording, but the PFC refused to give it to me based on a technicality in how I asked for it. The PFC President could have simply provided the recording in the interest of transparency but, unfortunately, decided to make this a pending legal matter.
I have consulted an attorney who guided me on how to re-request the recording, and now I am waiting for the response from the Agoura High School Parent Faculty Club President to provide me with this information. I have also reached out to a local elected leader for help in obtaining this recording.
Why would the Agoura High School Parent Faculty Club protect an elected official? It is illegal for a 501c3 to endorse a candidate, and while the AHS PFC did not publicly support Ms. Stein, protecting Ms. Stein, an elected official seeking to be re-elected, is unethical and not in the public's best interest.
